Hi! Iā€™m Erica. A Miami native, artist, and huge nature lover. Ever since I was a little girl, I spent any chance I could making arts and crafts or helping my mom and dad grow fruits and vegetables in our garden. This always meant getting my hands dirty, just like when I work with clay! I graduated with a BFA in Studio Arts from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I currently work out of my barn turned pottery studio. Through hosting ceramic workshops and creative experiences, I offer my community a chance to connect, tap into their creativity, and ground through intentional living. Thank you for being here, I am so grateful to share my art with you.

Artist Statement

When throwing or hand-building a vessel, I create as a way to honor and reinforce moments that are often overlooked. My pots welcome being held and are an invitation to ground and be present. Working with clay can be a deeply meditative and therapeutic process, as I rhythmically press the surface of the clay with each breath I take bringing me into a centered state with the clay. Often both my creations and guided creative experiences revolve around rituals, exploring the relationship with the clay body and the role it plays in our everyday lives. From starting our day mindfully drinking a cup of tea to being present at the dinner table. Clay encourages us to expand our awareness and be intentional as we navigate its possibilities and limitations. As I teach and share with my students, I've discovered that the clay is our true teacher. It has a deep history passed on through generations and encourages us to surrender to nature. I love the discovery that occurs in the process of making, as I start with one initial idea it then transforms and flourishes as I add more elements and let the materials reveal themselves in the fire.
